Tablature makes reading notes easy. Often called tab, it does not offer as much information as standard notation. You may think of it as a quick sketch of the notes.
- Tablature
- Gives a quick sketch of the notes
- Tells which string and finger to use
- Only some of the qualities of the music can be indicated
- Hard to know how long to hold notes
- Works well when learning with a recording of a song
- Standard Notation
- All aspects of the music can be written out
- Let’s the reader “see” the music: graphically oriented
- Faster comprehension of the music
- Recordings not needed
